Last Make it Take it and Show of the Year!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Delicious holiday. We are very fortunate and have a lot to be thankful for!

The girls and I got together and had a "tag and card make it and take it." Everyone designed a Christmas tag and a card and made kits for everyone to make. We each designed a memory book page for Vicki's **th birthday scrapbook with a small twist, we included a favorite recipe and sentiment for her to read on her special day. Happy Birthday Vicki! We made our recipe and shared it at the make and take. We always eat well. Again, thanks to Vicki for opening up her home.

Can you believe that 2008 is almost over? Sheesh, time is flying.
Our last show will be Krafty Delites Christmas Gift Show at the Carson Community Ctr. December 7th, 10:00 - 4:00. This show is always packed, so come early to get a number! Last chance to pick up a calendar. Free with $25.00 purchase.

Thanks so much for supporting Tiki and taj of honolulu. It's been rough going for everyone this year with the economy the way it is, so we are doubly grateful for your continued support of taj.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Mele Kalikimaka and Hau'oli Makahiki Hou!

Monday

RSC November

Thanks to everyone that came and said "hello" at the convention. Sure was a lot of fun seeing you all. The weather here in California sure can be deceiving. Warm and sunny on Saturday, cold and windy on Sunday. Good thing it didn't rain.
We were fortunate to get first look at Tiki's new stencil designs. They haven't been sold in Hawaii yet!

Tiki also brought her new t-shirt designs. We got the first look at these too! They won't be available to buy in the store for a couple of weeks. Owls are so popular these days and Tiki's are so adorable. Her Christmas shirt is selling fast! So cute with the playful dolphins.

They are finally here! It's been at least three years since taj has had cellophane gift bags. Tiki has gone through many hoops to get these made. They are 8 x 11 inches and of course, adorable. They come in packages of 20 for $5.00.

Many thanks to Suzan for gifting Tiki and me with this cute "Autumn Goodie Bag." So many things can be made with rubber stamps, stencils and punches. Thanks, Suzan for the treat and inspiration! Thanks to Terry and Lindsey for sharing the card and treat purse they made! Thanks also for the "energy" treat bag. Delicious pick me up!

Hope you received your annual 2009 taj of honolulu's calendar! I don't know how many years Tiki has been designing these, but I know many of you have been collecting them through the years and have kept them from 20 years ago. It's fun to see all her t-shirt designs for each month. If you haven't gotten your calendar, please come to Krafty Delites on December 7th at the Carson Community Center! The calendar is free with a $25.00 purchase.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please email me at dtakakuwa at gmail dot com.
Until next time, Do Something Creative and then... email me a picture so I can copy it. Thanks!

Scrapbook Expo San Diego 2008

San Diego is a beautiful city! Tiki, Taryn, Vicki and I had a great time at the Convention Center. I've never been to a Scrapbooking Convention so there was so much to see and buy. Tiki and Taryn were able to visit Sea World, twice! San Diego is Vicki's home town so she showed me the sites and her old stomping grounds. I was fortunate enough to be able to stay with Rheba, Vicki's lifelong friend's house. What a hostess to the mostest! Rheba dropped us off at the convention, took us shopping and to the best noodle house for eats. Combining work and play is the best.

Tiki brought the cutest scrapbooking pages out from Hawaii. Vicki and I were able to put together some pages and completed a few as demos at the show. Again, my photos are fuzzy, crooked and generally crummy, but you get the idea.

Summer Sample Cards July 2008

These pictures were taken at the Rubber Stamp Convention in Carson. Again, sorry for the poor quality, but I took them in a rush and at the end of the day. The lighting and cellophane glare is blinding.

No Guesses?

No one is either reading this blog or wanted to take a guess at who that was in the fuzzy picture. *sigh* lol
Last week, a few of my friends went to the Santa Monica Pier for a free concert given by Hawaii One. Na Leo Pilimehana and Keali'i Reichel gave a free concert! You know that never happens in the Islands! We had a great time and they were terrific. Nothing like live music. So the guy in the picture is Keali'i Reichel!

New Products for July 2008

The top close up photo is the true color of this 2 zipper plastic coated portfolio and luggage tag.

New T-shirt designs. The colors are not at all like these in the photos. Imagine the Go with the Flow a beautiful sky blue and the Green is Good in dark pink. I will try to take better pictures and post at a later date.

Candy Leis

I used Staz-On and stamped on this poly tubing. It was a little slippery, but I think if you are more careful you can stamp a good image.

This is 3 inch tubing so lots of different candies will fit. I stuff them all and then distribute evenly, well as best as I can. Tie colorful curling ribbon in between each set of candies and then cross the ends and tie the final ribbons. I will make a thank you, good luck or happy birthday tag to finish off the project. I like this poly tubing because it isn't scratchy like cellophane, but unfortunately, isn't crystal clear like cello.

Who the HECK is THAT!

So can you figure out who this is in this fuzzy picture? Leave your answer in the comments! Just for fun. To the people I went with, no fair, you can't play. I only need the name of the person in the middle! If the winner comes to the Stamp Convention, I will have a little treat for you!

Scor-Mat for the Scor-Pal

Pictures of the new Scor-Mat that of course, we will have available at the Stamp Convention along with the Scor-Pal.

One side is a self healing mat, printed in 1/8 inch increments and the other side is blank.

It fits snugly on top of the Scor-Pal and doesn't shift or move unless you want it to move. I really like that I don't have to take it off my desk top any longer.

School's OUT!

School is finally over and I am out for the summer. I haven't had too much time for crafting lately. Other responsibilities just get in the way.
Tiki has been real busy designing new stencils, t-shirts and stamps. She just got back from Asia and will be bring some more flowers to the Stamp Show in July. Hopefully we will be able to bring the new Scor-Mat from Scor-Pal. This mat fits on top of your Scor-Pal so you can keep it on your desk to cut, measure and design. I don't have one yet, but want to order ASAP.
If you have any needs or questions, please email me or leave me a comment and I will try to get them answered as soon as possible.
Hope to see you in July!

Rolling Riceballs April Get Together

Where does time go? Sorry, it's been awhile since I have updated. Things seem to get in the way of me getting here.

Our group of six met in April for our make it-take it stamp session. This session was themed loosely as Spring.

Thanks again, to our hostess, Vicki for allowing us to meet, eat, create and gab at her home. Lucille's BBQ whoa that is some good food.

There are only a couple of taj cards, but I thought I would share everyone's cards.

Tiki has some new designs for her T's, stamps and in July she will have new stencils. As soon as I get some photos, I will post them.

Happy Early Mother's Day!

Tiny Treat Basket

I wanted to practice more with the Scor-Pal and saw this cute basket on Cambria Turnbow's blog and I just had to make them for some friends.
They are so fun and easy to make.

My Picasa Web Gallery has more photos of the basket.

New Demo Cards RSC March 2008

Thanks to everyone who came by the booth. Glad you liked all the new stencils and merchandise. The new stencils are so versatile, mix and match.

Tiki and I received a wonderful gift from Suzan L. who made us both a St. Patrick's Day card and goodie. Too cute. Thanks again, Suzan. Beautiful work.

The Scor-Pal is so easy to use. I will have to experiment with it before the July RSC. Tiki only had our sample to take home to Hawaii. I made a few things with it at the show. So easy, but I have to figure out some of the measurements.

Here are the demo cards from Hawaii!

Suzan's St. Taj's Day card.

Some samples I made at the show.

The next show is not until July, but hopefully Tiki will be able to send me files so I can post new stamps, stencils, and merchandise so you can keep updated.
Have a wonderful Easter!

Tuesday

View Taj's Cute New Things!

I'm not sure if this will work, but Tiki and I were talking about posting pictures of her new items on this blog. At least you will be able to see her new things and will be able to contact her to order. You may have noticed that her website has not been updated. We will try to post her new designs here until she finds another web designer. Thanks in advance for being patient while we figure out what we are doing!

taj of honolulu handtowels

Tiki designed this fabric and made bath and handtowels. She made them in several colors, but I don't know what is left. Sorry, I don't know the prices.

taj and jelli plushies

Jelli made her debut at Krafty Delites and sold out very quickly. Tiki will bring more to the RSC in very limited quantities. Isn't she perfect for Easter? Cute. If you would like one please contact one of us! Taj and Jelli are $13.00 each. Sorry, Jelli doesn't come with the ribbon necktie. I thought she needed something springy.

Girl's Day 2008

This is the new design for Girl's Day which was 03-03 or March 3rd. Comes in Adult sizes too! She has rubber stamps to match also!

Valentine's Day 2008

Valentine's Day shirt comes in adult sizes too. Stencil and rubber stamps come in this design!

Tiki also designed a Year of the Rat T-shirt which I do not have a picture of, but features a cute Panda carrying a trio of Chinese Rats. I saw some rubber stamps to match also.

Do you take your own shopping totes to the market? Tiki has silk-screened some shopping totes with some of her new designs. She will have a very small amount at the RSC. They are very, very cute.

She has so many new things that I don't have pictures of, but hopefully we will see you at convention this weekend and you can see them in person. If you can't make it, then come back and see what's new.

Monday

Set 9 Stencils March 2008

Here are the new stencils. Tiki is picking them up next week for the Rubber Stamp Convention. We also have the Scor-Pal in limited quantities, so if you would like one, please come early!

Gomen na sai-Sorry

This picture has nothing to do with the post. Just like pictures and my doggy. She kind of looks like she's sorry too.

I am so sorry for neglecting the blog, but it seems it's been a pretty rough start of the year. Definitely not good times....

I talked to Tiki last night and she will be bringing two new shirts, Valentine's Day and her Girl's Day to Krafty Delites. Krafty Delites is March 2nd at the Carson Community Center. Girl's Day is March 3rd!

The following Saturday and Sunday, March 8th and 9th is the Rubber Stamp Convention and yes, another set of new stencils. I haven't gotten the blackline copies, but I will post as soon as Tiki faxes them over. She is swamped like usual.

Has anyone heard of the Scor-Pal? I have been hearing so many good things about it that I told Tiki and we will be ordering it for the RSC. Check out this website to learn more. Scor-Pal If I get it together, I will try to have a cute demo using the new stencils and the Scor-pal. Please leave a comment and tell me what you think. OR of course you can email me at dtakakuwa at gmail dot com

If I can do anything or help with anything do not hesitate to email me or leave a comment!

Hope to see you soon. A small bunch of us are leaving for a short trip this weekend to have a make and take! Good times stamping with the girls. Too fun.

Monday

Happy New Year!

Wishing you all a very healthy, happy and prosperous 2008!
Our group of eight women got together last weekend to trade and bind our recipe book. Everyone brought their pages and one dish to share at our potluck. What fun! Everything was so delicious! We had such a nice time being together and gabbing.
We are all grateful to Mona who owns the binding machine and also designed our book cover. We decided on The Rolling Riceballs because we all come to our stamping get togethers with our rolly carts filled to the brim with crafting goodies.
Our next meeting will be in February for a Spring Card Making session. This time around instead of making the cards, we will design and make kits for everyone to assemble at the meeting!
Hope you get some ideas for your own get togethers!
